We first went last year on the recommendation of my brother who stumbled across this hidden gem. This was our second visit to the Lemon Tree. We couldn't wait to go back this year. Once again the food was excellent the service was great. One of the waitresses even remembered us from last year and even what table we were sat at.

The restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but once you go through to the back there is a lovely courtyard with a large lemon tree in the centre and is beautifully lit up at night. Great for a night with friends or a romantic meal for 2.

I have had the lemon chicken and also the portuguese black pork and they were gorgeous. I have spoken to many people who have been here and no-one has a bad word to say about it. If you are in the Algarve then the Lemon Tree is the place to go but you must book as it gets very busy. The food is all cooked fresh and I cannot speak highly enough of this place.

O Limoeiro provides top quality food for reasonable prices.Whilst staying at Quinta de Lago we ventured into Almancil for a local meal. This restaurant certainly lived up to its favourable reviews. A wide and varied menu that appealed to all our tastes, young and old alike, demanded a return visit. The grilled seabass with ginger was perfect and I was even given a lesson on how to fillet it! Personal service from the owner and wonderful cooking performed by her partner provided us with two memorable evenings. This restaurant out performed some of the more expensive restaurants in the area.

It was a real treat in an area where many places are over-priced and/or the food is not worth it. The food in The Lemon Tree was excellent; I had the fish which was fresh as fresh could be and was cooked perfectly. The children had steaks and pronounced them among the best they had had.

If we had to be picky, we'd say the wine list was a bit limited given the wonderful range of Portuguese wines there are, and those that are on the list are 'standard' wines that can be bought in any supermarket. If they had wines from the smaller Quintas in Portugal, which are easy to find (and cheap) it would classify as as truly outstanding restaurant, rather than merely exceptional!!

We sat in the courtyard on a warm, lovely evening and we will return with great memories of the restaurant and a wonderful night out.

We went to the lemon tree on the recommendation of friends in July 2009. We certainly weren't disappointed. The food was really excellent, freshly cooked and plenty of it. We were given lovely fresh vegetables with our meal which we loved. The service was fantastic, Ann the owner was so knowledgeable about the menu and so welcoming. Nothing was a problem to the staff and they were so good with the children. Our experience was so good we returned the next night for more! I will be returning in September and look forward to going back.
